Immersive and multimedia: culture expands its sphere of influence to the 5th dimension.

The Kunstpalast DĂĽsseldorf is one of the most visited museums in North Rhine-Westphalia. With over 130,000 exhibits, the permanent exhibition also has a lot to offer. Since the grand reopening in November 2023, a German art museum has combined augmented reality with audio guides for the first time, fully integrating visitors' smartphones into the art experience.

Authenticity

Safeguarding the integrity of an historical place or artefact by not altering or modifying it.

icons

Immersive extension of the exhibits. Augmented reality can be used to extend the physical exhibition into the 5th dimension. Visitors can see exhibits through their smartphones or AR glasses and interact with the artwork, experience it in space or receive information about the work.

icons

New multimedia scope for curators. Nowadays, exhibitions with text-oriented information panels meet with a lack of interest, especially among young target groups. AR offers a clear advantage here: art or historical exhibits can be enriched with additional information without modification. If the exhibit is highly sensitive, ZAUBAR even makes it possible to display exhibits without exposing them to risk by using digital twins.

Gen-Z

Attract digital native generation to your cultural institution by speaking their language.

New opportunities for digital mediation: museums can use Augmented Reality to support educational programs. School classes and educational institutions can benefit from a more interactive and engaging learning experience.

icons

Gamified experiences. Through interaction and immersion, augmented reality turns art and history into a real experience through digital re-enactment and gamification. In contrast to linearly designed films or audio guides or printed material, users can take part in challenges and play interactive games to learn more about the exhibits. This is a great way to get young people in particular excited about visiting a museum.

Scalable

Reach out to a wider audience.

icons

Accessibility. Museums can use Augmented Reality to make art and culture accessible to people with disabilities.

icons

Scalable guided tours: Visitors can explore the museum at their own time and at their own pace, without being tied to guided tours or rental equipment. Tours can also be offered outside the museum space and into the city.

icons

Multilingual: Augmented reality can provide translations and interpretations in different languages to make the background to the exhibits easily understandable for a wider audience.
